Since the last 500 years, this is a total lunar eclipse that coincided with the Winter Solstice.
The last of such happening was in the year 1638, hence this will be once in a lifetime event
This also is the last lunar eclipse of 2010 and not visible from where I am.
Thanks to Slooh space cam, I was able to save the following images
Some facts on the eclipse (From NASA website)
Penumbral Eclipse Begins: 05:29:17 UTC Partial Eclipse Begins: 06:32:37 UTC Total Eclipse Begins: 07:40:47 UTC Greatest Eclipse: 08:16:57 UTC Total Eclipse Ends: 08:53:08 UTC Partial Eclipse Ends: 10:01:20 UTC Penumbral Eclipse Ends: 11:04:31 UTC
picture coverage posted here are from 1530 to 1730
Please take into account that these shots are from a space telescope and are 'adjusted' to the earth rotation and movement in orbit.
That's it...
I wish I have the right gear for this....
