As usual, for festival celebration, my mom, being an excellent cook that she is, will cook something up
This year she kept it simple.
Laksa Johor
Nasi Lemak with 4 different special Sambal tumis (mom's style) - chicken, sotong, prawns and 'standard' version
A different angle on the food
And Lastly, the highlight of the day
Perut Muda - Yummy!
This 'perut muda' concoction is cooked by my Dad, Kelantan style, one of which I could never do as well yet so far.
As the nature of the fat contents of this perut muda (or small intestines), one cannot simply have it as a regular food. The fat and cholestrol contents are unthinkable. Obtaining perut muda the proper way is also limited as specific steps need to be taken upon 'opening up' of the cow's internals after slaughter. A not so difficult task during the Hari Raya Haji slaughtering of the cows.
and today, it's the Ketupat Palas with Ayam Masak Merah - Northern style
With the Palas plant at my Parents' place, supply of the leaves are not an issue.
photos of the foodstuff taken by my son.
