Hello to HD broadcast

This morning, the Installer came to our dwelling to install the new Astro B.Yond set.

Installation was a breeze. The new components that was installed/provided are:

  1. New Sattelite Dish - dark grey in colour
  2. New LNB - The device that 'catches' the Satellite transmission signals and converts the signal to be transmitted to the decoder box
  3. Set of new Cables
  4. New Black B.Yond decoder box
  5. New Astro Gold Smart Card
  6. New Remote control unit
  7. HDMI Cable
The installer took back the old dish, LNB,  decoder, smart card and remote.

Installation only took less then 10 minutes. The remaining time was waiting for the activation of service.

It seems that this new decoder is smaller then my previous Thompson decoder and uses external AC/DC converter. HD quality is superb, although only on 1080i. If Astro could have 1080p transmission, that would be super!

I have another 40" Full HD TV at home still wrapped in a box as the day it was delivered. Awaiting in transit for the Owner to pick it up. It's been there for the past 3 months... Maybe I'll get it installed just for the Xbox and upcoming PS3 soon....
