Over 90% of Internet Users in China are on Broadband

Read about it here. China's broadband Internet users have reached 346 million, accounting for 90.1 per cent of its total netizens.

That means only 9.9% of its Internet Users (Netizens) are on a lower speed connection. Where's Malaysia in the rank? With our so-called Multimedia Super Corridor, a corridor nonetheless... we're perhaps not even up to the 30% mark. Compared to our neighbour down south... Singapore has become the world’s most wired nation with a household broadband penetration of 99.9%!

The Government ambitiously aspires to have a 50% broadband penetration by the end of this year. With what? Access rates are expensive. With a rate that is slightly less then RM100 for 1MB, the rates of having a Broadband at home are relatively expensive.

Enter TM HSBB (High Speed Broadband) Ambitiously aimed to provide 10MB upwards connection to a premise, the HSBB are currently being implemented in various parts of Klang Valley and Putrajaya. Amied for launch in March 2010, TM appears to be agressively pulling and terminating fiber cables throughout the designated areas.

But looking at the way TM Nut (Screamyx) have been overselling (yes.. all telco providers intentionally overscrubscribes their capacity) the Screamyx, what would the OSR (Oversubscription Ratio) for the HSBB be? And what about international connections? How fast would they be? What speed would the national backbone speed be?
